My story started in 1993. My sister, Stephanie Proffitt, was missing in Southeastern Arizona (Safford, Arizona) for 55 days. Her remains were found in the desert virtually 7 miles exterior of town. At the time of her disappearance, Stephanie was 22 years old (nearly 23) and I was 24 years old. I was working at the Federal Prison, was married and had three immature children (my daughter was seven years former, and my twin boys were 2 years old). During the time she was missing, I began to take strange experiences happen to me. Foreign noises in my house, I had a marker of four fingers on my back, Plants I had hanging would begin to move, I felt equally though someone was standing in my room watching me equally I went to sleep, I felt as though someone was sitting at the foot of my bed, and I felt equally though I was having conversations with my sister equally I was falling asleep.

All of these were so real that it scared me. Back in the early 90'southward we did not have internet to run into if these experiences were felt by others, I trusted that they were existent. Some of the sensations that I felt during the time she was missing, similar a tingling in my left arm, ended upwards becoming a reality when her body was finally located. Her left arm had been detached from her body, while other things similar visions of an orange bloom on a barrel cactus never fabricated any sense. I knew without a doubt that I had been in contact with her and I knew it deep inside me.

When my mom hired a private investigator out of Mesa (Manny Valenzuela) one of the questions he asked during the preliminary interview, was, "Has anyone in your family unit been spiritually contacted by Stephanie?".  It was then, I received validation that what I had experienced was real.

I continued to work at the Prison and put Stephanie's tragedy behind me, until I retired in 2015. About nine months later on my retirement, I was told by my Spirit Team (my angels and my loved ones who had passed away – led past my sister), that I would need to start a business concern helping people past doing readings for them. I had practiced off and on with some of the people I worked with by doing Affections Oracle Card Readings and connecting with loved ones who had passed away. I was scared merely the pull was so strong that I had to follow it. I also remembered a promise that I made to my mom that I would a write a book about the disappearance and decease of my sister after I retired. I assured my mom that it would exist from my perspective but would include the frustrations my family unit went through because of the lack of back up from the Graham County Sheriff'south Role during that fourth dimension. That book is chosen, "By Your Side: A Journey of Two Sisters through Dearest and Sacrifice". Things have moved along from there. I am now working on my second book and it is almost healing from grief by looking at expiry from a new perspective and giving yourself permission to grieve how y'all need to that honors your loved ones. I have been a contributing author for 7 books that are currently published and one that volition be published in December 2018.

We're ever bombarded past how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – just we've spoken with plenty people to know that it'south non always easy. Overall, would y'all say things have been like shooting fish in a barrel for yous?
It definitely was not shine. Some of the struggles that I faced included, what will people say most me connecting with the expressionless and working with angel oracle cards? I yet face that at present. I all the same live in Safford and I take not been able to promote my books at the Safford-Graham Canton Library. I can only recall that it is because of what I do. Honestly, my connection has been able to help those struggling with grief. It is working through my own insecurities and cocky-confidence. The pull to aid others was so strong, I just had to stride away from the fear and trust.

The struggle with my family members was and continues to exist the hardest. Instead of beingness happy for me because of what I am doing to aid others, they choose to gauge and call up of my work as "evil". At first it was really hurtful. For me, if I do not understand something like that, I would like to recollect that I would respect them and their journeying and if I did not empathise, then I would ask questions. I now take that we are all where we are supposed to exist and I need to respect where they are on their path. I know that it isn't really personal to me, it is what they were taught and what they choose to believe, and that is okay.

My advice to other women, is to own who are and what your spiritual gifts are. It volition experience a little strange at first and y'all volition find out who your real friends and supporters are. You volition brainstorm to attract a tribe of people that are on the same page as yous. You will find that you are helping each other along the way. I find inspiration in my soul family unit as I connect with them during the workshops we attend together and when I see their social media posts.

Find gratitude in those little things that bring you joy. I started with a Gratitude (or Joy) Jar. I would have a piece of paper and I would put anything that either brought me joy or I was grateful for on that piece of paper. Include the appointment, fold it and put in your jar. When you feel a bit down, take a piece of paper out of the jar and go back to that feeling that brought you joy or when y'all felt a sense of gratitude. It ever brings a smile to my confront.

Early on, I found inspiration in my seventh grade instructor, Miss Waldman, from Desert Horizon Unproblematic School in W Phoenix. After I had my girl at age 17, I became more than inspired past my mom. As a young married female parent, she did and so much for my dad, my sister, and me.
